Dean Duane Sheldon, 81, a native of Michigan and a resident of Foley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Sheldon; parents, Don Sheldon and Margarite Peeples; a brother, Donnie Sheldon; and a sister, Donna Lowe.
Dean is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce E. Sheldon of Foley; two sons, Don (Sadie) Sheldon of Honoraville, Ala. and Bryon (Kim) Sheldon of Pulaski, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jacob (Tammi) Sheldon of Allegan, Mich. and Jason Sheldon of Ostego, Mich.; and two great-grandchildren, Kiylee Sheldon of Pensacola and Kodi Sheldon of Honoraville.
Mr. Sheldon was an army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. After his service, he lived in Michigan where he was employed as an advertising salesman.
Dean (Deano) was a remarkable husband, father and grandfather who cherished family time. He surrounded himself with friends who he also considered family.
Deano retired in 1995 and moved to Lillian, where he loved spending time on Perdido Bay until his recent move to Foley.
He was an active member of the American Legion and Amvets as well as the Moose Lodge in Otsego, Mich., the Lillian Community Club, and an active lifetime member of the Elks Club.
He impacted people’s lives wherever he went and lived his life to the fullest. He will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
