DeAnn G. Sergent Durant, 66, a native of Brainhard, Minn., and a resident of Marietta, Ga., since 1977, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and a supporter of Allatoona Charities. Being in a military family, she was very active in the Family Readiness program at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta. Being able to support education was very important to her, so supporting her grandchildren’s PTA at Burnt Hickory Elementary and McClure Middle Schools was just second nature.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Durant of Dallas, Ga.; son, Ward (Allison) Durant of Dallas, Ga.; granddaughters, Claire and Catherine Durant of Dallas, Ga.; and two brothers, Larry Sergent of Dallas, Ga., and Warren Sergent of Land of Lakes, Fla.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 30 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Ga., with G.R. Graves officiating. Service in Bay Minette will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1 at Durant Chapel Baptist Church with Dr. Henry Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Durant Chapel Baptist Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to medical research or to the charity of your choice.
