BAY MINETTE — The monthly BMASCO (Bay Minette Area Senior Citizen Organization) met at 3 p.m., Nov. 6 at the Senior Center. If you are 55, you are considered a senior citizen and eligible to be a member of BMASCO. No monthly fees!

If you have some ideas you would like to share, please contact one of the officers.
It was decided that the organization would participate in White Christmas at the Dec. 12 Pot Luck. Each to bring a boy or girl gift for 8-10 year old ($10 limit).
December movie will be “Secondhand Lions” with Robert Duvall. It will be pizza nite at 5 p.m. and the birthday cake will be furnished by Peggy Middleton.
Although computer classes have ended for now, exercise is picking up. Erma Kern, instructor, met for the first class, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Senior Center. She started with stretch aerobic exercise. If you are interested, please be at the Senior Center on Monday or Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 8, was a fun gametime. Ask Mildred Schram, but wait until next week to ask Hattie! Every now and then Hattie Scruggs has to give it up! Now was that 4? But whose counting?
Friday, always busy day at the Center, and Friday, Nov. 9 was no exception. Art Class from 9-12 and bridge class at 2 p.m. However, Seniors boarded the bus at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church for a day at Fort Morgan with the Howells’ (Dudley and Ruth). The perfect day for a picnic and a ride along Gulf Shores to see all the changes and to point out work to be done at Gulf State Park. Ruth is a great planner and organizer and opened her home to about 50 people. Wow! Nice to arrive back at her summer home with the peace and quiet and to look across the way and see where all the hustle and bustle is. They have the best of two worlds. How many trips do you take that you arrive home and you get your supper to take home. The perfect ending to a perfect day. Thanks Ruth and Dudley and Mary Alyce happy birthday, for sharing with us. And thanks to Senior bus ministry (First Baptist Church) for the opportunities you give the seniors to share in fun and fellowship. And what is the song we sang at the picnic? Be at Senior Pot Luck, Nov. 14, for a replay.
The bus will be off Nov. 29, to hear the Gaithers in Mobile (think they have room for a few more)! If you are interested, call the church. They have filled the Cajun Country trip in December (three nights and four days)! However, you may get on the standby list in case someone has to drop out. I guarantee you will have a wonderful trip. Christmas lighting will warm your heart, cajun food and music will move your feet, you definitely will come back with your spirit lifted. Be sure to share it with those who didn’t go.
Now wait a minute, that did not end the day for the seniors! Seniors met at the Senior Center at 6 p.m. to go to the concert at Faulkner Civic Center. The “Old Flint River Dixie Band,” U.S. Army Band, marched in at 7 p.m. After a relaxing Dixie show and recognition of our veterans, they marched out and visited with everyone. They were so friendly and easy to talk too. As a matter of fact, our group adopted 1st. Sergeant Hall. You know he’s bound to be kin. You missed a real treat if you were not there. What a way to start off the Patriotic weekend
Busy week of Nov. 12. “B” Battery 711th was honored with a luncheon at the Senior Center on Nov. 12 and Veteran’s Day Parade was at 10:30 a.m. Makes you proud to live in a community where Veterans are recognized in so many ways, including churches.
Wednesday, Nov. 14, at noon, was monthly Pot Luck. Entertainment was by Laura Aaron. Followed by Bingo. Also, at 3 p.m. there was exercise with Instructor Erma Kern. Let you know how it went and also surprise song?
You will have time to make it to gametime today, Nov. 15. If you like straight dominoes, come on for a match. Think Mildred and Hattie are ready.
We will end the week, Friday, Nov. 16, with the Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Come and see what the Art Class has been up to this past year and the handwork others are doing. Also, you may want to sign up for Watercolor Class beginning Jan. 4. Music, art, crafts, refreshments and door prizes? Hey you can’t pass that up, even if you have to give up your lunch hour.
Senior Group will leave at 4 p.m. (maybe 3:30 p.m.?), well, when we all get together, we will leave and eat somewhere along the way? A fun way to end the day and the week at the Senior Center. We will attend the Coastal Chorale Christmas performance at the Spirit Center of Foley Methodist Church. Can you believe half the month is gone!
Next week, week of Nov. 19, will be a little quieter due to Thanksgiving holiday. You never can tell about the seniors, so will fill you in next week.
Also, will give you a blow by blow on the last week, busy week at the Senior Center. We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Thought about dropping by and then thought better, why spoil an otherwise perfect day for you. Remember it’s the turkey stuffed, not us?
Thought for the week: Each citizen should play his part in the community according to his individual gifts. —Plato
