Donald Alan Denman, 47, of Samson, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in his sleep of an apparent heart attack at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva.

He was born July 7, 1961. He graduated from Samson High School in 1979. A life-long resident of Samson, he had a passion for his family and many friends. He loved the Denman farm and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a die-hard Auburn fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Denman; his grandparents, Fred and Ella Denman of Birmingham, Dewey and Tura Wise of Samson, aunt, Peggy Lou Wise of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and an infant brother, Dewey Frederick Denman.

Survivors include two sons, Dewey Thomas Denman and Dylan Frederick Denman; his mother, JoAnne Wise Denman; two sisters, Rebecca Heberlein and Dianne (Steve) Godfrey; and three nieces, Casey Heberlein, Samantha Godfrey and Stephanie Godfrey.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Pittman Funeral Home in Samson. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 24 at Samson First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Blackmon, the Rev. Wade Rials and the Rev. Joe Lisenby officiating. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Samson First United Methodist Church Steeple Fund.
