Dewey Louis Hartley, born on May 17, 1930, and a resident of Bay Minette, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011. He worked in maintenance (retired) for Newport, Kaiser Aluminum and the city of Bay Minette. He was also a member of the Bay Minette Masonic Lodge 498.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 61 years, Lou Jean Hartley, of Bay Minette; four daughters, Molly Merritt of Prairieville, La., Debbie (Mike) Curry, and Georgie (Bobby) Cain, both of Bay Minette, and Mary (Danny) Smit of Albany, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, three greatgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Earle Hollingsworth; and four brothers, Eugene Hartley, Herman Hartley, James Graham Jr. and Denny Graham.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgie, and his father, DeWitt; his sisters, Voncile Graham, Ethel Williams and Martha Bryars; his bothers, DeWitt Hartley and Glen Hartley; and one great-granddaughter, Cristine Hadley.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home. Burial followed at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for the loving care provided as well as Dr. Sherman, Dr. Kolb and Dr. Sheik. Special thanks to Jeannie McMillan, RN and Terrie, CNA.
The family appreciates Mr. Clinton Burt for all of his support and many visits during our daddy’s time of illness.
