DAPHNE, Ala. — The Sound of the Eastern Shore, Daphne High School’s marching band, recently competed in their final two competitions.
At the 33rd Annual Deep South Marching Festival in Theodore, the band received all superior ratings, and won Best in Class; the Percussion and the Color Guard won Best in Contest; and the band's overall score put them at the top of the scoreboard.
They closed out their busy marching competition season by traveling to Tate High School in Cantonment, Fla. for the 8th Annual Gulf Coast Showcase of Champions. At this highly competitive contest, the band received a superior rating, won Best in Class for Color Guard, Music and General Effect.
The Color Guard also received the Best in Contest award for the second year in a row and the band received third place overall.
This month, the band will travel to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., to march in a Christmas parade.
The band is led by director, Rick Faison; assistant director, Mark Foster; guard instructor, Marsha Foster; and drum major, Dillon Nemles.
