Daphne, Ala. — Daphne High School students celebrated their “Bash the Bears” theme this week for homecoming.

DHS Trojans played the Robertsdale Bears in the football homecoming game last night. (For a report on the game, see Sports, Section B, in the Oct. 27 edition of the Daphne Bulletin.)

“The real activities start with the homecoming parade Thursday,” DHS Assistant Principal Carol Palumbo said.

Each class decorated a float for the parade, Palumbo said.

Thursday’s parade included class floats, the marching band, the DHS Trojans football team and the homecoming court, Palumbo said.

Homecoming Week gave students a chance to be out of uniform, she said.

Each day had a special theme and students dressed as follows:

•Monday: Flip-flop Day

•Tuesday: Tye Dye Day

•Wednesday: Camoflage Day

•Thursday: Western Wear Day

•Friday: Spirit Day

School officials held a contest for the spirit T-shirt. Students were asked to design the back of the shirt. Senior Corrie Hosmer’s design won and was printed on the T-shirts, Palumbo said.

Also, students attended a pep rally yesterday.

The homecoming coronation was held during the game’s half-time show last night.

Two girls from the freshman, sophomore and junior classes and six seniors served on the court, according to Palumbo.

This year’s Homecoming Court is as follows:

•Mary-Caylor Menefee

•Kate Matchett

•Jasmine Davis

•Avery Curtis

•Markesha Hopkins

•Latisha Davis

•Delaney Wilcutt

•Natalie Bowman

•Lucy Mosley

•Rachel Sawyer

•Katherine Cooper

•Chastity Westry

The semiformal homecoming dance will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Daphne Civic Center.
