Raymond Earl “Red” Diamond Sr. of Lillian died Sunday, June 6, 2010, after a valiant fight against the ravages of time.
He was a well known and accomplished musician who will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Born Aug. 1, 1934 in Jay, Fla., he grew up in Pensacola, the son of Jack S. and Virlon Davidson Diamond.
He was preceded in deathy by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Jean (Eugene) Stanley.
Survivors include his loving and faithful wife of 53 years, Dorothy Wolfe Diamond; three children, Denise (Clifton) Barr of Lillian, Raymond Earl (Renee) Diamond Jr., of Pfafftown, N.C., and Jack H. (Sherron) Diamond of Seminole; eight grandchildren, Ian and Kyle Barr, Jennifer Ashford, Jeremy Davis, Troy Davis and Raymond Earl Diamond III, Brandy Diamond Booth and Sherron N. Diamond (Ryan) Ashcraftl; eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia (Richard) Carpenter and Mary (Ty) Lane; brother, John (Dee) Diamond; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special uncle, Hartley (Peggy) Davidson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at his home.
