Diane Louise Gilbert

Diane Louise Gilbert was born to Norbert A. and Mary Bluhm Kuhn Dec. 31, 1941 in Rochester, N.Y. She succumbed to cancer Dec. 30, 2013 at the Covenant Hospice Care Center in Pensacola.

Diane grew up in the Rochester area, and attended 12 years at Catholic schools.

She married James Gilbert Sept. 3, 1968. The two of them owned and operated bowling alleys in the Bradford, Pa. area, where Diane became proficient at engraving trophies along with her other responsibilities.

Diane was a member of the Defenders of Wildlife in America. She loved dogs, especially German shepherds, and two little Brussels Griffons, Jacques and Gus.

Diane was enthusiastic about table games, and belonged to two Bunco groups in Pensacola, as well as a Thursday Rummikub club.

Diane was preceded by her husband, Jim; her parents; one sister; one niece; and her beloved shepherd, Kody.

Survivors include one great-nephew, Chris; and two great-nieces, Charlene and Sue; and Jim’s four adult children, James, Sharon, Janice and Robin.

She will be missed by many friends in the Lillian and Pensacola communities.

A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 11, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Lillian.

Memorials will be designated to the Cancer Society.
