Disaster declaration will bring money in for cleanup, repairs

GULF SHORES, Ala. - President Barack Obama’s signing of a disaster declaration for Hurricane will mean financial help is on the way for cleanup.

“That’s going to open some federal funds for reimbursement to the city for expenses that we incurred during Hurricane Isaac,” Franklin said. “That was a huge plus for the county, have that declaration.”

Other grants will soon be available to help the cities prepare for future events.

“It also opened up some hazard mitigation grant program for anything we may foresee that we need, that’s money that will become available that the city can go after and hopefully be better prepared in the future,” Franklin said.
