PENSACOLA, Fla. — Hear retired Navy Capt. Kevin Miller describe how the U.S., still reeling from Pearl Harbor, was able to defeat a superior Japanese force in the Battle of Midway during this month’s Discovery Saturday.

As part of its mission to inspire and educate, the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation will present “Discovery Saturday: The Battle of Midway” May 22 at 10 a.m. on the flight deck of the USS Cabot in the National Naval Aviation Museum.

In June 1942, the Battle of Midway was the turning point of the Pacific War and one of the most decisive naval battles in history.

Miller will describe how the U.S. was able to defeat the Japanese force and the key role Navy and Marine Corps aviation played in this momentous clash.

Miller flew A-7 and FA-18 aircraft, logging more than 1,000 carrier landings from the decks of 11 aircraft carriers over numerous deployments.

Currently the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, Miller lectures extensively on the Battle of Midway. He also serves as the vice president for legislative affairs of the Tailhook Association.

“Discovery Saturday” is free and open to the public.

The National Naval Aviation Museum features free admission and a full slate of events throughout the year.
