BAY MINETTE, Ala. — District 14 voters on Tuesday soundly rejected implementation of planning and zoning measures in the large, rural Central Baldwin area.
Probate Office election officials said Wednesday the election failed by an unofficial 1,261-619 margin.
About 6,800 eligible voters live in the district, located from north of County Road 104 to U.S. 98. If passed, the referendum would have initiated formation of laws concerning location and style of construction.
Ballots were taken to the Probate Office after polls closed Tuesday and were counted Wednesday morning. Unofficial results are posted on the Web, but do not include provisional balloting, according to election officials.
Certification of election results will be April 23.
