Cloudiness and thunderstorms associated with a large low-pressure system located in the mid-Atlantic Ocean continues to show signs of organization, the National Weather Service reported today.
The chance of the system becoming a tropical cyclone within 48 hours was raised to a 70 percent chance, up from 60 percent on Monday.
Forecasters expect the disturbance do become a tropical depression late Tuesday or early Wednesday. It is moving west at 5-10 mph and is located at 11.5 north and 37.5 west with sustained winds of 30 mph.
One computer model has the storm going between Puerto Rico and South America in the Caribbean, one has it going over Puerto Rico and three others have it going north of the island.
