DAPHNE, Ala.— Daphne Middle School recently held its annual Spelling Bee competition in the school library on Dec. 10.

Several parents were there to support their child who proudly represented their peers as classroom winners in a former competition. One student remarked, “Wow! The words were tough, but I studied!”

Another student commented, “This was fun…I feel like a winner!”

This year’s judge, Yvonne Hamilton, served as the speaker who pronounced each word with clarity for the participants. “She has the perfect voice and wisdom for leading this type of event,” said Dr. Sonya Rogers, the Spelling Bee coordinator.

Stephanie Ellis, event sponsor, and Bernadette Winn, school librarian, served as the two judges.

Afterward, the participants were provided refreshments and given certificates.
