Myrtle Elizabeth “Betty” Winn D’Olive, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at the North Baldwin Infirmary after a brief illness.
She was born March 18, 1824 in Pensacola, Fla., and grew up in Mobile where she graduated from Murphy High School.
She was employed with various places including the former Hammel’s Department Store in downtown Mobile, the former First National Bank In Bay Minette and the former First National Bank of Fairhope, but her best accomplishment was a mother and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Ella D. Chambers Order of the Eastern Star in Bay Minette where she had held several offices including Worthy Matron and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay Minette.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Judge Harry McLeod D’Olive; a son, Daniel Lee D’Olive; and a granddaughter, Harriet D’Olive.
Survivors include a son, Harry M. (Natasha) D’Olive Jr. of Spanish Fort; two daughters, Harriet (Tom) McMillan of Bay Minette and Joan (John) Anderson of Navarre, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the First United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Dr. Jeff Spicer and the Rev. John Murray Winn, her nephew, officiating. Burial will follow at Minette Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mike D’Olive, Wendy D’Olive, Archie McMillan, Andy McMillan, John Mostellar and John Wilson.
