FAIRHOPE, Alabama — The Gulf Shores Dolphins got back on the winning track with a 4-0 victory over Charles Henderson on Saturday morning in the Southern Shootout at the Barnwell fields.
The Dolphins (2-1-1) started the tournament with a loss and a tie on Friday, but head coach Tatum Saltz said Saturday's win felt right.
"(Charles Henderson) beat us in the playoffs a couple years ago, my first year at Gulf Shores," Saltz said. "We just came out and decided we wanted to take that glory back from them today. We played with pride and won with pride."
Josh Frizzel, Zach Wilkinson, Ivan Torres and Seth Clark had goals for the Dolphins, who play at Robertsdale on Thursday.
"Our defense really showed the scope of what they can do today," Saltz said. "I thought up top we had a lot of guys who were able to finish plays. Played great offensively."
In other boys action on Saturday morning at Barnwell, the Robertsdale Golden Bears lost 2-0 to Brewbaker Tech and Sylacauga defeated Baldwin County High School.
