Dolphins beat Rams 35-7

GULF SHORES – The Gulf Shores Dolphins exploded for 28 second half points in a 35-7 win over the Faith Academy Rams on Friday night.

Gulf Shores improved to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the region.

The Dolphins struggled on offense in the first half, managing just one touchdown drive in the first quarter. Gulf Shores drove 78 yards for the score, led by senior quarterback Logan Paul. Paul carried five times for 43 yards and completed 4-of-9 passes for 32 yards and a touchdown to Brandon Gottfried on the drive.

Gulf Shores had a 7-0 lead at the break.

Dylan Searcy had a sack in the first half for the Dolphins.

Gulf Shores turned the ball over on its first possession of the second half on a mixed up hand off from Paul to Gottfried. Faith Academy drove 84 yards in 13 plays for its only score of the night.

The Dolphins scored their second touchdown on the very next possession.

James Burton carried six times for 37 yards and Paul capped the drive with a one-yard touchdown run.

The Dolphins fumbled back to the Rams on their next possession, but forced a three-and-out and scored on the following possession.

Paul hit Jonathan Adams for a six-yard touchdown ith 7:45 to play in the third quarter.

Gulf Shores stopped the Rams on downs on the next possession. J.D. Swiger had a sack for the Dolphins in the defensive series.

The Dolphins took over at the Faith 48 and scored five plays later when Paul connected with Adams for a six-yard touchdown pass.

Gulf Shores scored again on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Paul to Gottfried on its next possession to give the Dolphins a 28-7 lead in the fourth.

Josh Carroll intercepted a Faith Academy pass at the Gulf Shores 25, and the Dolphins scored seven plays later. Trent Manskow scored on a seven-yard run.

Bryan Beviacqua made five extra points in the win.

Paul finished 17-of-30 for 186 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried 14 times for 74 yards and a score.

The Dolphins play at Bayside Academy on Friday.
