Donald Boyer Ramsey, 79, died at home in Magnolia Springs. He was a native of Beebe, Ark., and grew up in Port St. Joe, Fla.
He was a graduate of Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta, and received his BS degree from Florida State University. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and on the swim team.
He was employed at The Home Insurance Co. in Washington, D.C. and later with Smith & Nephew in Birmingham, where he lived for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Heuser Ramsey; children, Lynn (John) Boller of Orange Beach, the Rev. Michael (Teressa) Ramsey of Pensacola, John Phillip Ramsey of Live Oak, Fla. and David Ramsey of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth (James) Garner of Jupiter, Fla., Candace Boller of Houston, Texas, Cammie Boller of Nashville, Tenn., Cherilyn Ramsey of Daphne, Anna Ramsey of Daphne and J. Boller of Orange Beach; sisters, Lynn Kerigan of Mexico Beach, Fla. and Mary Dell (Penn) Holman of Roswell, Ga.; sister-in-law, Helen Ramsey Carlsten of Port St. Joe, Fla.; 11 nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Edwin Ramsey; and a brother-in-law, Jack Kerigan.
A memorial service was held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014.
Donations may be made in his name to Catholic Social Services in Robertsdale, or The Salvation Army.
