"3">Dorothy Webb Metzger, 86, a native of St. Austell, Cornwell, England and a resident of Fairhope, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.
"3">Mrs. Metzger was born June 3, 1925 in St. Austell, Cornwell, England. She is the daughter of the late Henry William Webb and his wife, Minnie Palmer Webb. Dorothy was a British war bride who met her future husband, William Joseph Metzger Sr., when he was stationed in Cornwell, England prior to the D-Day invasion. She arrived in the U.S.A. aboard the S.S. Argentina in May of 1946.

"3">She is survived by her seven children, Michael (Mary Kathryn) Metzger, William Joseph (Ethel) Metzger Jr., Sheila Fox, Angela (Richard) Foxworth, Charles (Jennifer) Metzger, George Metzger and Barbara (John) Sheldon; 11 grandchildren, Sharon Hood, Billy Metzger, Mark Metzger, Richie Foxworth, Jennifer Boyer, Nicholas Metzger, Addison Stokes, Griffin Metzger, Wyndham Metzger, Stella Sheldon and Nash Sheldon; and one great-granddaughter, Jessica Hood.
"3">Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at 11 a.m., at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fairhope. The family will receive friends an hour prior to Mass.
"3">Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
