Ollie Chambless Dorrough, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at her residence in Bay Minette.
She started her career by working at Brookley Air Force Base and followed with jobs at West Brothers and Bill’s Dollar Store as Assistant Managers. The job that she loved the most was keeping and teaching children. She kept small children in her home including her grandchildren and taught preschool at Happy Times Kindergarten.
In her latter years she spent her time volunteering at the Pine Grove School and also volunteering at the Bay Minette Benefit Shop. She was a member of the Red Hat Society here in Bay Minette and also the Bay Minette Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Dorrough and her parents, Winfield and Lula Chambless.
Survivors include her children, Dianne (David) Drew, Kathy (Dewey) Everett, all of Bay Minette and Randy Dorrough of Suwanee, Ga.; four brothers, Charlie Chambless of Eight Mile, Wilburn Chambless of Crestview, Fla., Edward Chambless of Lillian and David Chambless of San Diego; grandchildren, Deanne (Tom) Sheffield of Bay Minette, Miranda (Robbie) Stastka of Loxley, Daniel (Annie) Drew and Robbie Everett, both of Bay Minette; and one great-granddaughter, Hayden Drew.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 7 from chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Minister Travis Brown, Elder Bob Fetters and Minister Guy Hester officiating. Burial followed at Pine Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were, Tom Sheffield, Daniel Drew, Robbie Everett, Robbie Stastka, Danny Mitchem, Charles Jerkins and Tommy Chambless. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Chambless, David Chambless, Charlie Chambless and James Langham.
