GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Gulf Shores Out & In 2008 free concert series features Doug Breau on Thursday at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, corner of West 19th Ave. and West Second Street in Gulf Shores.
A talented professional vocalist, Breau will be accompanied by a group of exceptional musicians who value showmanship.
Doors for the family friendly event will open at 6:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7. Attire is casual and seating will be provided for this indoor concert.
After his standout performance last season, Breau returns to Gulf Shores with “Boom!,” a salute to the memorable music of the Baby Boom generation.
Along with unforgettable standards, guests will be treated to ‘50s-era pop classics like “Blueberry Hill,” “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” and “White Sport Coat” as well as songs from the 1960s and ‘70s like “It’s Too Late,” “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” and “You’ve Got A Friend.”
Breau grew up in a musical family, performing from an early age in school and community productions as well as taking his music into community centers and senior facilities, where he continues to donate his time and talent.
He has entertained professionally for more than 15 years, primarily east of the Mississippi River, and has recorded four CDs, with another in the works.
Spend a couple of nostalgia-filled hours listening to great music. The evening will be filled with songs made famous by great crooners of the past like Bobby Darin, Perry Como, Patty Page, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Ricky Nelson, Connie Francis and — of course — Frank Sinatra, to name just a few. Listen for your favorite.
Gulf Shores Outdoors & In is a series of free concerts sponsored by the city of Gulf Shores. The season runs April through October annually, with entertainment presented either inside the Erie Meyer Civic Center or in the backyard of the facility.
