Douglas E. “Doug” Stockwell, 62, of Athelstane, Wisc., passed away Monday Jan. 19, 2015, in Wisconsin.
He was born in Wausaukee, Wisc. on Oct. 6, 1952, son of the late Marion and Ruth (Hartnup) Stockwell.
Doug was a resident of Foley from 1969 to 1979. He attended and graduated from Foley High School.
After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed on the USS Lexington in Pensacola.
After his discharge he became a deputy sheriff in Corder, Mo., where he married his wife, Shelly Swigert.
Doug is survived by his wife, Shelly; three sons, Ronnie, Cory and Paul (significant other, Amanda); three grandchildren, Gannon, Jettsen and Ellie, and one on the way, all of Wisconsin; brothers, Dale (Joyce) Stockwell of Elberta, Ralph (Treasa) Stockwell of Sedalia, Mo. and Scotty (Carol) Stockwell of Warsaw, Mo.; and sisters, Carole (Dan) Betts of Silver Cliff, Wisc. and Loretta (Tom) Rose of Warsaw, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Peil; and a brother, Paul Stockwell.
A funeral service was held Jan. 24, 2015 in Wausaukee. Interment was in Forest Home Cemetery in Athelstane.
