Douglas Lowell Hardin

Douglas Lowell Hardin, 65, died Sunday, June 16, 2013. Mr. Hardin was a native of Tuscaloosa and resident of Foley for the last 35 years.

His parents were Lowell and Myra (Hickman) Hardin of Tuscaloosa.

Doug attended the University of Alabama, and graduated from Samford University School of Pharmacy.

He was a pharmacist in Foley, and at one time owned The Medicine Shoppe.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joanna Sporna Hardin of Foley; son, David Hardin of Troy; daughter, Heather (Reid) Hardin Cole of Magnolia Springs; four granddaughters, Hannah and Madelyn Cole of Magnolia Springs and Maggie & Anna Kate Hardin of Troy; twin brother, Darryl Hardin of Tuscaloosa; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Doug was an avid Alabama fan, a lover of history, especially Civil War, and a faithful viewer of EWTN Catholic TV. Events and phone calls had to be scheduled around his favorite TV show, “Jeopardy.”

A visitation is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow directly at 2, with interment following in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
