Dr. Carl Martinez Booth Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in his beloved Tensaw on May 26, 2013, with the love of his life, Betty, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Martinez Booth Sr. and Glo Hunt Booth; and his sister, Glo Booth Goodwin.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Thrasher Booth; daughters, Elizabeth Thornton (Ray) and Margaret Whittelsey (Davis); his brother, Joseph Hunt Booth Sr. (Jane); his beloved nephew, Joseph Hunt Booth Jr., who was like a son to him; grandchildren, Margaret Irene Thornton, Sarah Coleman Whittelsey, Raphael John Thornton Jr., Katherine Elizabeth Thornton, Davis Butterfield Whittelsey and Elizabeth Hunt Whittelsey; and other relatives.
Dr. Booth graduated from Murphy High School, the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. His dental career spanned six decades of which he was very proud.
He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force.
He was raised in Christ Episcopal Church and was a lifelong active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry and served as an usher.
He was an active member in the KORs.
His love was Tensaw, where his mother was born. He was a Treasure Forest recipient and enjoyed sharing with others his love for the land. This man loved the woods, and adored his family and friends.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers involved in the end of our father’s life, namely, Mittie and CeCe Benion, Fay, Mattie, Benita, Jackie, Wanda, Denise and any others who have cared for our parents that we have failed to mention by name. We thank you more than words can express.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, from 11 a.m. until the noon memorial service in the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church, Mobile.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 6176, Mobile, AL 36606-0176 or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
