SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Beginning Oct. 1 and continuing through Dec. 15, while supplies last, dressbarn stores will have the “smoochable pooch” Skye, a soft, plush stuffed animal, available for adoption for $5. The entire $2 net profit from each sale will go to the American Cancer Society to support local and national breast cancer initiatives.

During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the ACS, along with associations, government agencies and businesses across the country, works to increase awareness about the disease and the importance of early detection.

Throughout the course of their partnership with the ACS, dressbarn inc. has contributed more than $6.5 million dollars in support of the ACS’s goals: to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from cancer, a store spokesperson said.
