A Daphne woman and a Bay Minette woman have been arrested on trafficking methamphetamine charges following an operation conducted Tuesday by the Baldwin County Drug Task Force at the Oasis Travel Center at the Wilcox exit of Interstate 10.
According to a release issued Wednesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Command, the Baldwin County Drug Task Force received information on Tuesday that narcotics were going to be delivered to the Oasis Travel Center.
Investigators conducted surveillance in the area and eventually spotted a 2008 BMW entering the parking lot.
As Investigators started to approach the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Molly Susan Hargrove, 40, of Daphne, took off striking several civilian vehicles, a Sheriff’s undercover vehicle and an electrical box and conduit that was attached to the Oasis Travel Center sign.
Over 28 grams of ICE methamphetamine was seized from Hargrove and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Elizabeth Ashley Bryars, 41, of Bay Minette, and from the vehicle.
The vehicle appeared to be totaled. The vehicles that were struck sustained significant damage.
“Luckily, no one was injured during this event,” according to the release. The restaurant was full and several people were walking around the parking lot at the time that this occurred.
In addition to trafficking charges, Bryars was booked on theft of property, second degree charges. Hargrove was also booked on charges of attempting to elude, reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia, in addition to warrants from the Daphne Police Department and Mobile County Sheriff’s Department.
Both are being held without bond at the Baldwin County Corrections facility.
