ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- Two drug seizures and arrests took place earlier in the week, one each on Interstate 65 and Interstate 10, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday, June 24, deputies pulled over a vehicle at the 41-mile marker of Interstate 65 north of Bay Minette. The vehicle was clocking traveling 92 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone.
After detecting a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, deputies searched the vehicle and found 17 individually packed one-pound bags of marijuana in a box in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.
The driver of the rented vehicle, Dovonya Stallworth, 31, of Mobile was arrested at the scene and charged with trafficking marijuana.
On Tuesday, June 25, deputies stopped a vehicle at the 47-mile marker of Interstate 10 east of Loxley, after clocking the vehicle in excess of the posted speed limit.
Deputies said they observed marijuana in the vehicle and could detect an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle also admitted to smoking marijuana prior to being stopped, deputies said.
During a search of the vehicle marijuana, pills and one kilogram of cocaine was recovered from the vehicle along with $8,000 in U.S. currency.
The driver of the vehicle, Kelenda Luster, 35, of Decatur, Ga., was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, first degree; possession of a controlled substance and trafficking cocaine.
Both suspects are being held at the Baldwin County Corrections Center on a $1 million bond.
