The Orange Beach Library and Orange Beach Senior Activity Center will welcome D.S. “Dave” Drummond Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. for a presentation about Shipbuilding in the United States. Shipbuilding was once one of the largest industries in the United States. Mr. Drummond will share stories of the his life in one of the nation’s largest shipyards and discuss the changing nature of American shipbuilding.
Mr. Drummond was born into a ship-building dynasty that spanned three generations and included an association with Thomas Watson’s legendary Fore River Shipyard, birthplace of many famous American ships. Since retiring from shipbuilding, Mr. Drummond has begun a second career as an author and lecturer and regularly volunteers as a docent with the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola.
