Chief Master Sgt. Russell Emanuel Dugger, 70, a native of Summerdale and a resident of Foley, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a three-time recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal. His last duty assignment was at what is known as Area 51, where he helped develop missile jammers that saved lives of many pilots during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Alabama football fan.

Survivors include his wife, Mable Dene Anderson of Foley; two sons, Russell E. Dugger Jr. of Silverhill and Marcus F. Dugger of Gulf Shores; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Devon Dugger of Summerdale; two sisters, Doris Hansen of Foley and Marilyn Vishaway of Summerdale.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Burial will follow at Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale.
