George William “Buck” Duke Jr., 89, a native of Clanton and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at a local hospital.

He was a member of Oyster Bay Baptist Church. He was the personnel director for Kimberly-Clark for 18 years, after which he became the personnel director for Minnie Pearl Fried Chicken. In 1972, he started Duke Real Estate in Gulf Shores.

He was a member of the Coosa Valley Masonic Lodge since 1952 and a member of the ABBA Temple Shrine.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Duke; two children, Sheila Duke (Ricki) Mulvancy of Gulf Shores and Billy (Kay) Duke of Gulf Shores; sister, Lona Rush of Sylacauga; three grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services and visitation were held Monday, Sept. 24 from the chapel of Pine Rest Funeral Home. Interment followed at Pine Rest Memorial Park.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Oyster Bay Baptist Church, 4280 Plash Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
