William W. Dyess, 87, a native of Rosinton and a resident of Elsanor, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy mostly during the Pacific Theatre on the U.S.S. Mississippi. He was also the owner and operator, for many years, of Dyess Timber, Inc.
Survivors include a daughter, Clela (Lee) Reed of Athens, Ga.; son, William W. (Norma) Dyess Jr. of Crestview, Fla.; sister, Ester Riendeau of Robertsdale; two half-sisters, Alma Cloud of Pensacola, Fla., and Irma Cox of Portland; and five grandsons.
Graveside funeral services and burial were held Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Elsanor.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Red Cross, 853 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36602.
Arrangements were made by Mack Funeral Home and Crematory, Robertsdale.
