Eagles claim West Region PCC title

ROBERTSDALE, Ala.— Bayshore Christian defeated Central Christian 12-6 in the Panhandle Christian Conference West Division Baseball Championship game at CCS Saturday. Eagles pitcher Miles Thomas held the Saints to three hits and was named the tournament’s MVP. Bayshore finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 West league record. Central took the runner-up trophy with a 7-3 mark.

“We got off to a good start with a 4-0 lead,” said BCS coach Jeff Hauge. “But Central always battles and they turned it into a 4-2 ballgame. But I think my guys did a real good job of getting on base and making things happen. We put some bunts down to move up on the bases and then we had some clutch two-out hits.

“Miles Thomas pitched an outstanding game for us. But Central is a great team. They never give up and kept battling back right up to the last out at the end of the ballgame.”

Charlie Brock had a two-run triple in the bottom of the 4-run first inning for the Eagles. Bryant Brock added two RBIs on two hits, Iain Rhodes and Sam Malone each singled in runs and Will Stevens had an RBI sacrifice fly.

BCS defeated Trinitas 10-2 in their division semifinals. Bryant Brock recorded the win for the Eagles. He allowed two runs over three innings, struck out three, walked one and scattered four hits. The Bayshore offense was led by Fletcher Williams’ two-run double, an RBI double by Nathan Vincent and an RBI single by Stevens.

Central defeated Atmore Christian 5-3 in their division semifinal. Austin Gross got the win for the Saints.

For the tournament Connor Atwell had a single, a double and scored a run to lead CCS.  Zaine Johnson had a double and a single, Caleb Sullivan and Jonathan Doggett each had two singles. David Enfinger had a single and scored a run. Caleb Fuller and Austin Gross each had RBI singles for the Saints.

Both teams advance to the PCC Final Four Tournament April 29-30 at Loxley Municipal Park.
