Early voting described as 'slow'

Voting was described as "slow" this morning in some areas of Baldwin County as voters cast their ballots in the primary election featuring a slate of regional, state and local candidates.

Just before noon, Violetta Smith, a Probate Office staffer in charge of elections, said voting was light in the Magnolia Springs area and other areas of the county.

"It was slow in spots earlier this morning, but we are hoping for a surge this afternoon," Smith said.

Polls will close at 7 p.m. Voters may view election results as they are compiled by going to baldwincountyal.gov, and clicking on probate, then elections.

Election officials said they expect all ballots to be counted before 11 p.m., excluding provisional ballots.
