Students have been decorating the library with Christmas books and Christmas decorations. The library is special because people can read and learn from books.
In Mrs. Christopher’s kindergarten class, they are doing many Christmas activities. They are making a Santa calendar that is counting down the days until Christmas. They have been singing Christmas songs like “Up on the Housetop.” They are making Christmas ornaments to decorate their Christmas tree. Her students are enjoying making their calendars.
Students in Mrs. McKenzie’s kindergarten class have been getting ready for Christmas! They planted an amaryllis that is 58 inches tall. They also played Simon Says with numbers. They use the computer to research pandas and play reading games. The students enjoy playing on the computers the most.
Mrs. Lane’s first grade class has been using the Smartboard to do fractions. Mrs. Lane’s students say their favorite part of her class is the extra reading time they have during the day.
Mrs. Ray’s second grade class has been busy in the computer lab publishing their field trip stories and letters to Squanto. They are choosing fun fonts. In science, they are learning about the life cycle of a peanut during their study of George Washington Carver and his many uses for the peanut. They are comparing biographies and creating timelines.
Mrs. Ott’s second grade class is studying about the Earth’s water cycle. They are working with double-digit addition and subtraction in math. For their social studies lesson, they are discovering different cultures and different traditions.
In Mrs. Schepker’s third grade class, they are doing an extremely fun project with multiplication in math. In science they are starting to learn about pollution. They will be learning about some stages of pollution such as air, water and ground pollution. They are practicing their multiplication facts on educational websites. Their favorite thing about Mrs. Schepker is how nice she is.
Ms. Mullin’s fourth grade class is learning how to divide using three-digit numbers. They are reading an African folk tale called “How Night Came from the Sea.” They take reading tests, math assignments and Compass Learning on their computers. The students’ favorite thing about their teacher is that she is nice.
Ms. Walker’s fifth grade class has been reading about dinosaurs while learning more about fact and opinion. In math they have been studying improper fractions. While in science, they have been learning about the solar system and drawing diagrams of it. They use a variety of technology, such as laptops, the computer lab and the Smartboard to learn.
Mrs. Harrison’s class has been writing about the three types of unconformities. Unconformities are cracks or missing parts in the geological column. In math they are measuring angles with a protractor. They also are measuring the angles on triangles to see if it equals up to 180 degrees.
To conclude their geometry unit, students will make a geo-bread house. Their favorite thing about Mrs. Harrison’s class is how the decorations match their units of study.
