Ruth Vienna Parthenia Stanton East, born Aug. 29, 1910 in Monroe County, a resident of Daphne, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at her home with her family at her bedside.
Survivors include five sons and six daughters, Dorothy Jones of Theodore, Minnie (Clyde) Edwards of Mobile, Mattie Grayson of Mobile, Roosevelt (Pam) East of Gary, Ind., Ruth (Theophus) Vashti of Daphne, Hilory (Ethel) East of Loxley, The Rev. Robert (Barbara) East of Chicago, Grover (Margaret) East of Mobile, Juanita East (Alfred) Allen of Daphne, Lily Ann (Billy Ray) Jackson of Los Angeles, Edgar “Nick” (Christine) East of Fairhope, Sam Salter of Monticello, Miss. and Patricia Hawthorne Johnson of Daphne; 39 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-great-grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with funeral services at noon Saturday, April 26 at at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 902 Main Street, Daphne, the Rev. Clarence A. Lett, pastor emeritus, withthe Rev. Robert L. East, Liberty Temple C.O.G.I.C., Chicago officiating. Interment will follow at Little Bethel Cemetery.
