DAPHNE, Ala.—Some people would insist that movies are better with popcorn, and thanks to local business leaders, Daphne senior citizens can enjoy the movie-theater staple while watching the latest movies.

The Eastern Shore Business Alliance, a networking group of local business leaders, and the Daphne Civic Center have a symbiotic relationship, a member said. The alliance uses the senior center meeting room for its monthly meetings, and members decided to use the funds earmarked for community service projects in the second quarter to purchase an antique-style popcorn machine.

The senior center had to borrow a popcorn machine during its movie events before the donation.
