DAPHNE, Ala.—The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce’s Tourism Council has kicked off a new campaign called “It’s a Shore Thing” designed to express appreciation to the many customers of the Eastern Shore who enjoy Mobile Bay, the cuisine, shopping experience and hometown atmosphere.
Advertisements will be strategically placed in publications, on billboards and on stickers for businesses to display “thanks” to both visitors and local residents who shop locally.
“It is an opportunity for us to show our southern hospitality by letting people know that we appreciate them and encourage them to come visit us, stay, shop and play,” said Darrelyn Bender, president and CEO of the chamber. “Fall is the best time to kick off this campaign as the leaves are turning, the sunsets are magnificent and the humidity is low.”
Chamber volunteers will hit the streets to distribute the window stickers that simply say “It’s a Shore Thing ~ Thanks!” Every business is encouraged to participate.
“We are encouraging participation by doctor’s offices, car dealers, accounting firms — any business that relies on the public to do business with them,” said Ben Meisler, council chairman. “If you haven’t been visited by one of our board members or volunteers, give the chamber a call or drop by one of the two locations and pick up a sticker.”
Plans are underway to place advertising in publications on a seasonal basis welcoming visitors to the Eastern Shore to enjoy the holiday season, Mardi Gras, summer fun activities, shopping and eating.
On any given weekend visitors and locals alike enjoy outdoor activities such as festivals, boating, fishing, walking, sight-seeing, birding and sports.
“There are always plenty of activities to do, and the Tourism Council wants to encourage people do it all. We want to encourage residents to support local businesses,” Meisler said. “We want them and our visitors to enjoy our shore to the fullest and we want them to know we appreciate them doing business with us. “After all It’s a Shore Thing.”
