Eastern Shore city leaders set 2011 priorities

DAPHNE, Ala. — Improved infrastructure, increased “walkability” and expanded amenities for residents lead the list of 2011 priorities proposed by city leaders eager to capitalize — prudently — on the momentum of Spanish Fort’s growth.

Members of the city council and planning commission were asked to submit New Year’s resolutions for 2011 that address both their hopes for the city and any personal goals they are willing to share.

Daphne's leaders expressed that in 2011 they hope to live within the recently adopted fiscal-year budget, begin long-awaited road improvements throughout the city and still find ways to attract new businesses and increase revenue.

Capital road projects and an attempt to stay within the $20.3 million budget the council adopted in December for 2011 lead resolutions made for the city.
