BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Baldwin County, and the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency at noon Thursday reported coastal flooding problems and water over the road at the following locations:
• County Road 1 at the Grand Hotel
• County Road 95 and County Road 97 in Josephine
• Plash Island
• Fort Morgan Road is closed at the 5-mile marker
Residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions if they live in a low-lying, flood prone area and to use extreme caution when approaching roads that are covered by water.
Along with the threat of the coastal flood warning for the Baldwin County area, due to Hurricane Ike, coastal residents should also be aware of the possible risk of tornadoes as the system continues to approach coastal areas.
Baldwin County EMA continues to closely monitor the area and is working with local municipal and emergency ground crews to respond if necessary.
