ROBERTSDALE — On the heels of announcing the retirement of its president/CEO, the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance announced the resignation of its vice president of economic development on Monday.
Josh Thornton will resign his position effective July 2, according to a release by the Robertsdale-based organization on Monday, to accept a position at the Area Development Partnership in Hattiesburg, Miss.
“Josh is one of the rising young stars in the economic development profession,” said BCEDA president/CEO Robert Ingram. “He will be badly missed at the Alliance, both for his work ethic and abilities, and his great sense of humor and sincere, outgoing personality.”
Thornton will direct recruiting efforts for the multi-county organization, and gain supervisory experience, according to the release.
“Josh has done an extraordinary job at the Alliance; as our lead recruiter, in managing and expanding our property database, in leading the effort to certify the South Alabama Mega Site and in identifying and certifying smaller sites under Alabama's detailed and complicated Advantage Sites program,” Ingram said.
In a release issued Wednesday, June 6, it was announced that Ingram will step down from his current role and assume a non-supervisory support role to the new chief executive officer.
The Alliance began advertising for a new CEO last week. A complete job description is available and can be requested via email to bcedaemployment@gmail.com.
Resumes outlining all qualifications shoujld be emailed to the same address and will be accepted until July 6, or until the job is filled, whichever comes first.
Ingram has agreed to remain in his position as president/CEO until Nov. 1 or until a new president/CEO is hired, according to the release.
In the interim, Ingram will coordinate the search for his successor, guide the organization through its ongoing strategic planning process and continue his role as president/CEO.
Thornton’s position will not be filled on a full time basis until a new president/CEO is hired, according to Monday’s release.
