The annual picnic of the Ecor Rouge Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, was held this year on May 9, at the James P. Nix Center in Fairhope. Regent Judy Roberds presided over the noonday festivities.
The program was presented by the kindergarten and first-graders of the Early Childhood Center of Fairhope, under the direction of their teacher Carol Saltz, who is also a member of the Ecor Rouge Chapter. The children had been studying about the Mobile/Tensaw Delta, including the birds and sea creatures that live in the delta.
They created Delta Denims illustrating all the creatures that they sang a lively, animated song about.
After the picnic, the regular meeting continued, minutes were read and approved; reports were given; announcements were made and Mrs Roberds asked the new officers for 2008-2010 to come forward: Regent Sherree Brush, Vice Regent Mary Miley, Recording Secretary Jean Carlson, Corresponding Secretary Robin McLain, Treasurer Glenda Gravlee, Chaplain Eleanor Brandon, Registrar Laura Colquitt, Historian Diane Mace and Librarian Ann Hopf. Katherine Dekle, the chapters honored Daughter, presided over the installation of officers.
Bernice Richardson gave the benediction. Regent Brush thanked the members for electing her and said she looked forward to their support. The Regent adjourned the meeting at 1:35 p.m.
