Edgar Clement Henson, 84, a native of Hawthorn and a resident of Daphne, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 in Fairhope.

He was born May 6, 1926 to James Carey Henson and Nancy Morton Henson.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Scott Paper Company in 1988 as an electrician/instrument technician. He was a longtime avid HAM Radio operator and a member of Spanish Trail Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Andrew Henson; and a brother, James Carey Henson

Survivors include his wife, Betsy B. Henson of Daphne; two sons, Edgar Carey (Sherri) Henson of Mobile and Lawrence Scott (Karen) Henson of Daphne; stepdaughter, Diane (James) Dailey of Decatur; stepson, David T. Newell of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Irene (David) Parks of Shreveport, La., and Nancy (Danny) Singleton of Millry; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Spanish Trail Baptist Church.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Spanish Trail Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1555, Daphne, AL 36526.
