Edgar L. Church of East Lansing, Mich.,born Nov. 7, 1919 in Webberville, the son of the late Geness P. and Beulah L. (Coleman) Church, passed away Aug. 21, 2012 at the age of 92.
He attended Lansing Eastern High School and Michigan State University. He proudly served his country during World War II in the European Theater as a Captain in the U.S. Army and served as a Maj. in the U.S. Army Reserve. He received his Law Degree from Wayne State in 1950. He was the founding partner in the law firm currently known as ChurchWyble, retiring in 1985. He served as an attorney for Delhi Township for many years and was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Fraternity. Edgar was a former member of the Holmes Road Church of Christ and served as an elder for many years. He and his wife Lucille moved to Gulf Shores, to enjoy their retirement and he resided there until she passed in Sept. 2009. Edgar enjoyed fly fishing and! bird hunting. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lucille M. (Perry) Church; and his son, Dennis Lynn. His survivors are his sons, Edgar L. Church, Jr. (Cindy) and Mark P. Church; grandchildren, Lori Schaefer and (Eric), Teresa Church (Shane Seaman); great- grandchildren, Emma, Elise and Olivia Schaefer; Grayson Seaman and another who is soon to arrive. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Mich. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
