Edna Smith Chambless, 92, died July 16, 2012 at her home in the Pine Grove Community of Bay Minette. She was born in Perdido, Ala.,on November 13, 1919.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. "Doc" and Evelyn "Evie" Smith; her husband, Eugene Chambless; her daughter, Peggy Chambless; her great-granddaughter, Tommie Christine Hadley and four sisters; Mary Biggs, Clara Smith, Vivian Little and Willie Mae Snyder. She is survived by her daughters; Sharron Chambless (Tom) Ellison of Robertsdale, Linda Chambless (Major) Plato of Pine Grove and Karla Chambless (David) Nordon of Birmingham; her sons, Tommy Chambless of Prairieville, LA., and Phillip (Mary K.) Chambless of St. Amant, LA; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-seven great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Alan House, Frances Bedford for the Reverend Mike Bedford and Chaplain Cindy Still officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
