Edward L. Gately, 61, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.
Mr. Gately is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah; three children, Tina Gately of Houston, Texas, Tommy Gately (Callie) of Memphis, Tenn. and Kevin Gately of Kennersville, N.C.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gately; a brother, Charles Gately; three sisters, Paula Kay Dycus, Kelly Henson and Kimberly Boyett; eight grandchildren, Alex Broadbent, Ashley Harman, Matthew Broadbent, Konnor Gately, Kinley Gately, Emma Gately, Parker Gately and Abigayle Reed; and a great-grandchild, Makayla Harman.
Edward served in the United States Marine Corps with the rank of sergeant.
After his service, he worked for Owens Corning for 29 years and retired as a plant manager. His inability to sit still led him to co-start Railroad Resource of Bay Minette.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to William F. Green Veterans Home of Bay Minette, or Wounded Warriors.
