Eileen Foley DuPre ended her 99-year journey on Feb. 2, 2016 in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Her life was filled with an enormous amount of kindness, love, an adventurous spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, a creative and artistic flair and a never-ending interest in life. Anyone who knew her loved her dearly.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She experienced life surrounded by people who loved and respected her, and was truly blessed throughout her journey.

Eileen began her journey in Oak Cliff/Dallas area, and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel during her youth and then to New Orleans for college for a few years.

As a young woman, she worked as a hat model for Neiman Marcus and Sanger Brothers in Dallas.

After college, she was married only six weeks to Mage Anderson of Dallas, and lived in Sacramento, Calif. until his death in WWII. After his death, she moved to Washington D.C. and worked at Bethesda Hospital and volunteered for the Red Cross and for the WWII soldiers. Her work with the Red Cross took her to Oklahoma, where she continued her volunteering.

After the war she returned home to Dallas, where she married Erwin I. DuPre, lovingly know to all as “Dup.” It was here they raised their four children.

Eileen had an everlasting love for Colorado. She and Dup spent many years enjoying the mountains with their children and her brothers and sisters.

Her husband was a custom homebuilder, and this led Eileen to moving over 29 times in her life as they built homes in the Dallas area. She was a talented interior designer and handled that aspect of the business.

Later Eileen and Erwin retired and moved to Hide Away Lake in Lindale, Texas and had a wonderful life of entertaining, golf, boating and enjoying life.

After Erwin passed, Eileen moved to Gulf Shores, Ala. in 2000 where she enjoyed a new chapter in her already blessed life until her journey ended.

She was born Aileen Foley in Dallas, Texas on Nov. 5, 1916, daughter of John Joseph Foley and Mary Elise Foley of Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin I. DuPre of 52 years of marriage; her brother, Joseph Foley of Dallas, Texas; her sister, Justine Foley Sweeney of Wichita Falls, Texas; and her brother, Tom C. Foley of Wichita Falls, Texas.

She is survived by her brothers, Dan H. Foley of Oak Cliff, Texas and James Foley (Martha Foley) of Salina, Kan. She is also survived by her children, John B. DuPre (Ann DuPre) of Dallas, Texas, Tom F. DuPre (Gina DuPre) of Chattanooga, Tenn., James F. DuPre (Eileen DuPre) of Dallas Texas and Crested Butte, Colo. and Carolyn D. Chapman (David Chapman) of Gulf Shores, Ala.; grandchildren, Paul R. DuPre of Dallas, Laura Sexton (Hunt Sexton) of Greenville, S.C., Mark T. DuPre of Chattanooga, Emily DuPre Botting (Tony Botting) of London; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Forest Sexton and Zoe and Tabitha Botting.

“It’s all in your heart, that counts.”
