EJ Manuel leads South to 21-16 win over North in Senior Bowl

MOBILE, Alabama - South quarterback EJ Manuel completed 7-of-10 passes  for 76 yards and a touchdown, rushed for a touchdown and led the South on another scoring drive in a 21-16 win over the North in the Senior Bowl on Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.

Manuel, who played college football at Florida State, rushed for a 2-yard touchdown on the South's first offensive series, then hit Alabama's Michael Williams for a 20-yard touchdown strike on the South's next drive. He led the team on another scoring drive, capped by a 5-yard touchdown run from Mike James, late in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the South.

The South led 14-0 at the half. Johnathan Franklin had a 20-yard touchdown run and Quinn Sharp had a 42-yard field goal for the North to cut the lead to 14-10 in the third quarter. The North followed James' touchdown run with a touchdown pass from Zac Dysert to Kenjon Barner with 23 seconds left in the game.

Foley High School graduate and former University of Alabama safety Robert Lester had a solo tackle in the game, and Bacarri Rambo and Xavier Gooden had interceptions for the South. South Most Outstanding Player Ezekial Ansah had 7 tackles, 1. 5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss and one pass break up.
