Pre-K will be doing a week- long celebration of Dr. Suess’ birthday. We will make a cat in the hat treat to eat and make green eggs and ham to complete our celebration. We will also make slime to represent ooblick. Each day we will take one Dr. Seuss Book and participate in a special activity.
All first graders have been studying planets and exploring Space. Mrs. Johnson & Mrs.Pumphrey have been doing planet stations which includes computer games, puzzles, word finds, Planet bingo, abc order, concentration and making Earth badges. The students visited one station per day.Mrs Pumphrey’s class also had Martian drinks that helped us to learn facts about Mars! The students are learning how we have day and night. In Math we are practicing place value, graphs, and tally marks. In reading we are learning about compound words. In Social Studies, all first graders are studying about George Washington.
Third grade went on a wonderful trip to Sand, Sea & Stars. Mrs Wilkins’ Class has made fossils to end their Rock unit. Mrs. Dallas’ class is learning all about angles and lines. They are having a good time learning about this using Twizzlers. They are also using marsh mellows and toothpick to show their understanding of different angles. Mrs. Dallas’ class will be studying Japan over the next two weeks, they will learn about the customs and everyday living of the country. Mrs.Dallas’class will work with Mrs. Lucassen’s eMINTS class on a Japan web quest.
The EES Library is gearing up for a HUGE event on March 2!! Tens of thousands of educators have registered for this nationwide event set for March 2. We're out to shatter the national one-day record for Accelerated Reader Quiz-taking—on Dr. Seuss's Birthday.
All registrants will be automatically entered in day-long random prize drawings. Prizes include an Apple® IPad®2 (32G), a Kindle, AR Quizzing Kits each with two NEO 2s™ and a Renaissance Receiver, Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, (including two books signed by the author) and more books and prize packages. Because, most importantly, on March 2, you will help accelerate learning on a national level as America's students succeed in reading…together. Every teacher in the school can register for the drawings.
The library and computer Lab A will be open 10:00-2:30 on Friday, March 2nd. Students may come to the lab to take tests and use their computers/NEO’s in their classroom. Books can also be checked out as needed from the library. Please send one student from your class at a time to the computer lab to test as Mrs. Hollingsworth/Joyner will be supervising. Make sure the book is read before the student is sent to the lab. This will be the biggest AR Quiz taking day in history. Mrs. Hollingsworth will report throughout the day our progress. Mrs. Hollingsworth will also make copies of certificates and parent letters that should be sent home to encourage this event at our school. Thanks so much for your help! Here is the website that tells all about it:
