ELBERTA — The Elberta German Sausage Festival is set for this weekend.

Scheduled for 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday in Elberta Town Par at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and County Road 83 in Elberta, the semi-annual event features approximately 7,000 German sausages for sale.

“Although the recipe has changed somewhat over the years, the original secret recipe for Elberta’s famous sausage is credited to Alfred Stucki, who managed Elberta’s Locket Plant from 1953 until his death in 1973,” states the festival website.

In addition, more than 200 vendors will have booths selling arts and crafts, as well as carnival rides, and other wares for the event that attracts thousands. Plus, live entertainment will include the Bellview Stumpfiddle Band performing polka music.

Originated in 1973 by the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department, the festival is a fundraiser for the South Baldwin town of Elberta.

“…Proceeds are used for improving not only the fire department, but the town, as well,” the festival website states. “Additionally, local non-profit organizations also benefit from the festival through proceeds from their booth sales and parking-lot fees.”
