Elberta Mayor: No plans to vote on another curfew ordinance at upcoming council meeting

ELBERTA, Ala. - According to Elberta Mayor Marvin Williams, a curfew ordinance will not be on the agenda for Tuesday's Elberta Town Council meeting.

"Unless someone brings it up," Williams said, noting a revised ordinance has not been proposed.

The first attempt to pass an ordinance making it illegal for all ages 16-and-under to be outside after 11 p.m. failed after a motion was not made at the June 21 council meeting.

Interim Elberta Police Chief Julie Joyner said she wants to revise the ordinance and possibly bring it in front of the council again, and Williams said the ordinance could be considered because it technically was not voted rejected.
